Presentation: "Domain-specific Smalltalk"
Time: Thursday 16:00 - 17:00
Location: Abbey Room
Smalltalk presents some unique capabilities and unique challenges to designers of DSLs.
Practitioners in any language can learn from both. We'll explore three different styles of DSL design in Smalltalk, influenced both by the freedom of Smalltalk's dynamism and reflection, and by the constraints of its development environment.
Concrete examples of DSLs will be drawn from the speaker's experience in web and database development, along with classic examples from Smalltalk's 25 year history.
